Site Response Investigation

Earthquake ground motion is significantly influenced by geological materials. As waves propagate toward the surface, they undergo changes due to several factors that modify the frequency and amplitude of seismic phases. For site specific projects, the susceptibility of geological materials beneath structures to amplification of motions needs to be evaluated. We provide the following services for this purpose:

  • Calculation of shear-wave velocity and the elastic properties of soil column using shallow seismic surveys (for example, microtremor surveys or multi-channel analysis of surface waves)
  • Estimation of site fundamental frequency, amplification curves, and site class according to the classification of National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program
  • Generation of amplification susceptibility maps
